Sofia sat quietly at her desk waiting for her students to arrive.
She had no idea what kind of students she would be receiving, and especially what they would think of her abilities. She looked around, inspecting her classroom. She sighed, typical magic and occultism classroom. Dark, dim and depressing. She would have to make changes to that eventually.

Nathan was the first to arrive, taking a seat towards the front because more people sat in the back and the middle, as far from the front as possible. Having taken the classroom in on his way inside, he now looked to the teacher. Although he had experienced his fair share of the occult and some magic, he was curious to see what the academy had to offer on the two subjects.

Sofia smiled at the boy who sat in the front. She got up as more students began to arrive, most of them silencing upon seing the room. She sighed again, really make changes to the vibe the room was giving.
She waited patiently for the students to seat down befor proceding to write her name on the board. "Welcome everyone. My name is Sofia Santos and I'll be your magic and occultism teacher" She paused for a little "Some of you might know it already, but I am actually a witch" she smiled, and the murmur that was eard seem to please her.

Nathan watched her and listened along with the rest of the class. He did not need to hear anyone's thoughts to know that some were surprised and others weren't. Although he wasn't aware she was a witch until she said so, he was not surprised. It seemed fitting that a witch teach the magic and occultism class. Now he was curious to know what she could do.

Ethan arrived late. What a great impression to pass. He hated to cause a bad impression, expecially of him as a student. Knocking on the door frame, he waited for the teacher to notice him.
Sofia did notice the boy standing at the door that she usually kept open during classes. She smiled warmingly to him and nodded, in order for him to enter. "Ethan Garnett, am I right? Please take a seat" she told the boy.
Ethan nodded "Thank you" he said quietly in a british accent. He decided to take a seat in one of the front rows. For him, this was the best way to show off although if you asked him he wouldn't call it showing off. He would refer it as something in the lines of exemplifying to common people how they should behave and act.
Sofia smilled again. "Now that we are all introduced, there are a few things I want to clear with you. If you think you'll be learning how to do magic tricks I strongly suggest that you quit this class. As the name itself refers to, this is a magic and occultism class. Although you'll be learning how to perform spells, you are also going to learn the theory about occultism and magic."
She paused for a little "Today we will be learning about occultism"

Nathan wondered how she intended to begin the course, besides the general statement she had just made about occultism. He was already rather experienced in this subject, having the ability to read minds, but he did not plan on letting that be known. He studied Sofia with his golden eyes, wondering what exactly her qualifications were. He suspected she had a few "tricks" of her own.

"The word Occult" she started, writting it on the board "comes from the Latin word occultus, that reffers to knowledge of the hidden"
"This term is often taken to mean knowledge meant only for certain people or knowledge that must be kept hidden, but for most practicing occultists it is simply the study of a deeper spiritual reality that extends beyond pure reason and the physical sciences."
"The terms esoteric and arcane can have a very similar meaning, and they are often linked"
This would be a boring lesson, and she knew it. But there was nothing she could do about it. These student's were learning how to deal with forces beyond their control. A little bit of theory was necessary for them to understand fully the nature of what they were dealing with.

Nathan watched her for a minute, but then his gaze began to wander around the room. He was already familiar with what she was teaching, or at least this lesson.
