Nathan leaned against the shelf where that book was, facing Mack and looking at her. "For me to what?" He was no more than a foot from her.

Mack froze due to the sudden proximity and to the awareness that she had spoken too much. She grabbed the book and studied it "I wonder if they let us take this out of here" she pondered "But the gargoyle might not let me"

Mack looked up at him narrowing her eyes. Although he was leaning he was still taller than her. She had forgotten how difficult it was for her to have an arguement with someone taller than her. She sighed "What's so bad about it?"

"Now, why would I do that?" Nathan asked rhetorically, keeping his eyes on her. He leaned closer to her. "I attract enough danger of mine. I'm not afraid of yours." He looked her in the eye.

Mack's breath sped and she blushed a little. "It's not because of that. I just don't want to ruin anyone else" she said "I already ruinded Cam, Michael and Pandora. I don't wanna ruin you too"

"You shouldn't worry about me." Nathan replied, smiling some. "And I don't know any of those people." He watched her blush, smiling a little more instead of smirking.

Mack opened her mouth in order to argue with him but she couldn't find the words. She closed it after a moment and gritted her teeth, furious with her lack of reaction. "Do as you wish"

Nathan smirked as he watched her with amusement. "I always do." He straightened up and brushed past her, his shoulder grazing hers. He glanced over his shoulder at her with the same smirk as he walked away.

"I won't," Nathan called back over his shoulder, "Good luck." He disappeared behind some shelves and stopped when he came to an area of lesser used chairs. He set down in one of the cushioned seats and opened a book he had grabbed along the way.

Mack smiled as she walked towards the front desk in order to check out the book. "But first I'll have to go and talk to my favorite half-breed. He promised me we would tell me all the truth, without sparing me the sordid details" she told herself remembering that David had told her he would tell her about his vampiric side
